Providence Baptist Church was organized in 1771 as Cub Creek Baptist Church. The first service held in the current location in May of 1964.

Providence Baptist Church is affiliated with the Appomattox Baptist Association, the Baptist General Association of Virginia, and the Southern Baptist Convention.
